EARLY PHASE ANALYTICAL DEVELOPMENT SPOTLIGHT: Angela Moore

Name: Angela Moore, M.Sc. AngelaMoore_Photo
Alcami Site: Durham, NC

How long have you been with Alcami?

I joined Alcami in February of 2017.

What is your role?

I am an analytical development scientist at Alcami's Durham, NC site.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is working closely with our formulation development team to develop analytical tests for new drugs going into clinical testing. Some of the products pose potential to help both children and adults with debilitating or deadly diseases, and it is exciting to be part of a team that helps bring a client's product to the FDA for approval. The greatest reward comes when the product is commercialized and I see advertisements for the product on TV or in doctors’ offices; I know I played a role in allowing these drugs to become available to patients.

What is your team's latest achievement?

The Durham site is starting a biotechnology group within our laboratories and testing has begun.

How do you see those accomplishments affecting the pharmaceutical industry?
The pharmaceutical industry is making a shift towards large molecules through immunotherapies, antibody drug conjugates, and gene and cell therapies. As technology develops, companies are learning more about how drugs can interact with the genetic makeup of patients to produce targeted therapies with, hopefully, fewer side effects and adverse reactions. I am excited to be part of a company participating in the development and testing of these types of products.
