SCIENTIST SPOTLIGHT: August 2017

Ari_Ericson_Photo.jpgName: Ari Ericson
Alcami Site: Germantown, WI

How long have you been with Alcami?
I joined Alcami in May 2015.

What is your role?
I am a Process Engineer II in the manufacturing technology group and a development work cell lead at Alcami's Germantown, Wisconsin site.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is working with R&D and operations to manufacture a high quality product for our clients. I get to engage with R&D to develop a robust process for the plant, and then support operations during manufacture.  I strive to enhance the skills of others to provide the necessary efficiency to meet client and site manufacturing expectations.

What are your team’s latest achievements?

My development work cell specializes in first-in-plant scale-up products.  To gain efficiency, we use risk assessments and leverage statistical Design of Experiments to extract the most data from a limited number of experiments.  We come together as a team to ensure successful manufacture.

How do you see those accomplishments affecting the pharmaceutical industry?
The work cell supports small biotechnology companies to manufacture toxicology and early phase clinical supplies. This niche enables more compounds to progress through clinical trials and potentially save or improve the quality of life for the patient population.
